Music For Your Furry Friends
When it comes to pets, there is nothing that their owners love more than seeing them happy and enjoying themselves, and now thanks to Spotify there is a new way that can happen.
Spotify recently announced that they would be releasing what they are calling "pet playlists" which are playlists designed specifically for your furry friend to listen to. These playlists are created using a wide variety of factors including your pet's personality traits, what type of music you like to listen to, and what kind of mood you want to put your pet in. If you wish for them to be more energetic when the playlist comes on, then you will hear music that is more upbeat. Similarly, if you want to calm your pet down it will play more relaxing music to help aid them in that.
Something interesting about the calming factor is how it can help owners dealing with pets suffering from emotional issues. Say for example your pet has extreme separation anxiety and becomes a problem when you have to leave for work or school every day, Spotify would be able to play songs that would help keep your pet happy while you are away so that they do not have to go through it alone. In an article written by Andrew Griffen of the Independent digital newspaper, he received the opinion of a psychologist that specializes in the emotions of animals. During this interview, Professor Neil Evans makes the claim that
"When dogs have appropriate auditory enrichment they may bark less, lie down and sleep more, and their bodies are in a more relaxed physiological state."
The benefit stretches not just across different types of dogs but other animals as well.
These pet playlists are being personalized so that they can be played for almost any animal that you may have. This so far has stretched from dogs to cats and even beyond that as they have begun developing playlists for the more unusual and exotic pets that you may own. It is their hope that before long they will have options out for every furry, scaley, and feathery friend imaginable so that their owners can be confident their beloved pets never feel alone.
